Jake's Birthday (Party #1)... The Zoo!

Opa and Ernie took the afternoon off from work this past Friday to take us to Zoo Atlanta! It was a perfect afternoon, and the boys did wonderful... considering we got there at nap time!  Jake actually slept for about an hour on the way there - so I think that saved us!

Here we are!!!!

The first thing we saw was an armadillo running around in a flower bed / island! So cool.... considering the ones I have seen have been on the road.... you know what I mean!

Then we turned around and there was a lady holding a snake! I hate snakes.  The only good snake is a dead snake.  I try not to pass my fear along to my children, but they kept a little distance!

Then we saw the elephants... it was dinner time, so he went inside and we couldn't get a good picture... but this little guy worked just fine!

 Then we went into the Parakeet House! I had never been inside it before... it was SO COOL!  The birds fly all around you, and will eat right out of your hand! The boys LOVED this!!!

 Jake went right to it - held the stick and fed the birds...

It took some coaxing with Sam... he would hold the stick out then drop it when the bird's mouth got near it!

But he figured out that they were nice birds!

Then we saw giraffess...

And Zebras...

And more giraffes and zebras...

And lions...

And a huge nest that some kind of bird builds...

And gorillas...

And checked the map... you see that Sam really wanted to know where we were (he asked), and Jake just wanted to run!

And monkeys...

And Jake checked the "instructions" when HE wanted to!

Do you see Jake hanging from the rail? Maybe he was impersonating the monkeys!?

The pandas were so cool!

More monkeys... I mean another panda!!!!

We rode the carousel...

And the train...

And FINALLY made it to the playground! Yes. They asked and asked when we would be getting to the playground - then ENTIRE time!!!!!

Yikes Jake!

Such big boys!

Then we got to go eat dinner together... with BJ! What a wonderful and FUN day!!!!!!!!!
