Our Moped Adventure in Cozumel...

I mentioned earlier in my post about our cruise to Cozumel about our moped adventure around the island.... well.... here is a run-down of our adventure!!!!! And it was just that - an adventure...

Here we go on our fine piece of machinery with our fine (and I'm sure very protective) helmets that we didn't even want to think about who or what had worn before us...

We stopped at a quaint little resort to get a better view of the ocean... and to appreciate our mode of transportation once more...

It didn't occur to us until we were WELL away from the port that it may not start, or it could die on us...  Oh well - part of the adventure, right?

We met wildlife along the way...

Ahhh.... the beautiful water of the Caribbean...

This is how we looked most of our (2-3 hr) adventure... BJ driving, me on the back with the camera!  BJ said that it was hard enough to drive the "squirrly" thing with the wind, let alone with me twitching from side-to-side taking pictures.... but now we have photo documentation of this adventure, so it's all good....... now!

The roads were terrible... very, very bumpy!

These are merely suggestions...
We saw quite a few signs for touristy areas... we detoured those...
There were pockets of pretty landscaping...

Then there was this... look hard - that's a Dos XX truck!

A gas station... look again at the sign - I think Dos XX is important there!?

Restaurants...

Resorts...

Not sure I would want to stay at this one!?

Roads leading places we weren't willing to go... there were LOTS of these!?

Wide open highway... humming along at about 20 mph!!!

The road construction crew was quite friendly... wonder if they laughed once we 'zoomed' on by!?
We (finally) reached the bottom of the island where you can start to see waves and 'beach.'

The Jamaican restaurant made me laugh!

The waves were pretty big... and there were LOTS of rocks on the beaches!!!

Open road again...

The view to the right...

The view to the left...

Once we were about as far away as we 'could' get, it appeared that thunder storms were closing in! hahaha!!!

We have opossums... they have lizards/iguanas!

Then we made the turn to cut back across the island (the 10-miles of indigenous not-much-of-anything)!!!

I got a few pics of how the 'natives' live!!!

We weren't on a shopping mission... but this was a good deal!!!

I think this had been there for quite awhile...

Someone must have been confused as to which was his house???

Here we are on the outskirts of downtown... where it had already rained... I think we were on the "right' side of the island!!!! :-)

This family just makes me laugh!!!!!

Fire station...

Ahhhh... so here's where the locals shop!?

English is important to know around there...

Familiarity... except there's are crowded!!!!

Sam would be ok now that we know they have a Burger King!

Look close - there's our family on the moped from earlier!!!! And we may have guys that twirl signs to advertise - they have guys dressed up as big fat white guys to lure them in!?!?

Not sure what this is, but it's pretty!

I'm glad Cozumel could take me back to Atlanta with their traffic!!!

This appears more touristy... blah! ;-)

We were back to the port, and it started raining.... and it was time to turn our adventurous friend back over to the locals.....

Back on the cruise ship, we noticed this sign as we walked back in.... OOPS!!!!!

We still laugh about our adventure!!! Perfect for us - who needs to spend $100's on an "EXCURSION" when you can spend $35 on a scenic tour of the entire island!?!  PERFECT!!!!
