Our 10th Anniversary... Let's Go Sailin'.....

We decided to do something we've never done before for our 10th anniversary trip... and we are SO GLAD that we did!!!!  We went on a 4 night cruise to Cozumel, Mexico! We loved every minute of it... although we missed our boys and family tons!!! It was so nice to get away and relax for a few days! We are spoiled!!!

I have so many pictures from our trip / adventure that it is best told as I share some of our photos!!!!! ;-)

Our hotel in Mobile... the Battle House.  It's a historic hotel, and absolutely beautiful! Here we are outside - I also included a picture of my breakfast in bed (on our actual anniversary!)... and our gift from BJ's dad and Inny!

Once we were (finally) on board - apparently the boarding process wasn't typical (just our luck) because of a broken gang plank(!?) - we finally set sail... the Coast Guard escorted us out of the harbor, and there was a lot to take in on the way out of Mobile... and there was rain.  Lots of rain!

Once we started exploring the ship, we were quite surprised at the cleanliness and size of our accommodations for the next few nights!!! The blue chairs are the 'Serenity Deck' - adults only - and it was quite serene... as long as you don't get cornered by Jo Bob telling you how much it cost to text home to check on his dog.  That's not a joke!

The name of our ship was the Elation...

I never knew this, but when you cross into/out of the Gulf and into/out of the Caribbean, there is a DISTINCT LINE of green water and blue water! It's the craziest thing I've ever seen! I wish I had had my good camera, but alas, I grabbed the iPad to capture it... look hard... the first blue line is NOT the horizon!!!!! CRAZY!!!!
This is what we woke up to on our first full day.... blue skies and blue water!!!
And Happy Cruisers!!!

Yes, other boats passed by - but we didn't see any other cruise ships (we don't think)... and I asked everytime we saw a ship if it was a cruise ship!!! ;-)
And we learned the hard way that sunscreen application is hazardous when on the deck of a moving ship!!!
That night was formal night... and they had a martini tasting... ugh... ;-)
And we LISTENED to the karaoke-ers.... we did not participate, but had no problems chuckling at the (poor) attempts at carrying a tune (we are not jaded - we know we can't sing!!!).... and it really was like American Idol - they THOUGHT they were good!!!!  Song selections included A LOT of country - that would make your ear drums bleed (we left out of Mobile... explaination enough???), Elvis, Adele, Hey Now You're an All Star, and Amazing Grace (the last two were the same guy... who was also the creeper who stared at the pianist in the atrium ANYTIME she was playing.......)
The next morning, we found ourselves docking at Cozumel...
We shopped around for a little while, then got a wild hair and rented a scooter to see the island... We had a blast, but our rear ends were numb by the time we got back!!!! THEN we saw the sign on the ship advising against mopeds.... OOPS!!! Click here to see the post about our adventure!
I took lots of pictures from the back of the moped... but I will have to share those in a later post!!!
Before we left, we spotted dolphins swimming around the harbor!
Apparently Carnival is 'known' for their towel animals... (the bird on the bottom was our own addition! ;)
And I am SURE everyone wonders what shoes would be appropriate for cruising... no fear... I took enough for the whole ship to wear!!!!
We would (will) most definitely cruise again! We had good food, good service, and an overall good experience!!! I think we had no idea what to expect, so we were pleasantly surprised at how clean and nice everything was!!!! I think a DISNEY CRUISE is in our future for next time!?!?!? ;-)

Stay tuned for the moped adventure..... For now - it's back to reality for us!!!!
